Yes/No question word ไหม : Măi?

I have a few days off this week and I plan to do a lot of activities!

Today, I had a play on a high rope course at Wildwood in Guildford (#wildwoodwinner). It was really fun! Watch the video of me on the Zip Line and answer the question I ask in the comments below!

Are you scared of heights? Do you have vertigo when you are up high? For me, it depends how high it is!

Sentence structure : Subject + Explanation 1 (verb) + Explanation 2 (modifier) + Question + Particle

Thai script : คุณ กลัว ความสูง ไหม คะ

Transliteration : Koon Glua Kwaam+Sŭung Măi? Ká

Translation word by word : You be scared height ? polite particle

English translation : Are you scared of heights?

Note 1: ความ : Kwaam = [noun prefix used in front of a modifier] + สูง : Sŭung = [modifier] be tall/high, ความสูง : Kwaam+Sŭung = [noun] height

The yes/no question ไหม : Măi? is used after a statement to change a statement into a question when you want to know a ‘positive’ or ‘negative’ answer. ไหม : Măi? is equivalent to ‘Do…?, Would…?, Are…?, Is…?, Am…?’ in English.  (Learn more in my Speak Thai Course Chapter 1 and 14)
