Fantastic post, combining two of my favourite subjects; remote north west Thai border regions and Muay Thai. The peoples faces seem to be a mixture of Hill Tribes (if that’s not a patronising term), Chinese, Thai Yai and Lao. But some of the children seemed worried all the time, especially by the whip. I liked the quote “If you do good the ghosts will protect you, but if you do evil they will break your neck”!! The stick and carrot is present in all religions. KC
