Country boy of Thailand in 1966

A United Nations film about children all over the world primarily shown in the USA. This one is about a boy in South East Asia – suggesting that all countries in the Far East are the same. Well, my guess is that this was filmed in Thailand 56 years ago.

This reminds me of the two years six months I spent working in Leong Nok Tha district (now in Yasoton Province) in the early sixties. We were building roads, wells and a airfield with the British Army. The smell of wood smoke, the sound of cockerels crowing at sun rise and the sound of torrential rain on a leaky tin roof brings the memories flooding back. I’ve read the famous book with the same theme as this video; “Luuk Issan” or Child of the North-East. I think it is available as a DVD, but can’t find it on the net. Can anyone help please? KC
